    This is a 2021 report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine on advancing towards commercial fusion energy. The report highlights the need for the government and private sector to work towards a goal of producing net electricity in a fusion pilot plant by 2035-2040 to impact the transition to a low-carbon emission electrical system.

  • International Partnerships in a New Era of Fusion Energy Development (2023)

    The United States announced in 2023 the need to grow international engagement and partnerships to accelerate commercial fusion energy development. Fiver overarching goals were identified: 1) access or shared development of key infrastructure on fusion R&D, 2) grow the future global marketplace, 3) coordinate regulatory frameworks, 4) global workforce pipeline, and 5) improve public education and engagement in fusion energy.

  • IAEA World Fusion Outlook 2023

    The IAEA’s World Fusion Outlook aims to be the global reference for information and updates on fusion energy. The first issue of the publication outlines achievements in fusion energy; its safety, security, safeguards, law and liability challenges; as well as the ole of the IAEA in its ongoing efforts.

  • Technology Assessment: Fusion Energy 2023

    The 2023 United States Government Accountability Office’s Technology Assessment on Fusion Energy provides a high-level overview of the opportunities and challenges on the path towards commercial fusion energy.

  • The Fusion Industry Supply Chain 2024

    The Fusion Industry Association launched the 2024 Supply Chain Report in July of this year The report surveys fusion developers and suppliers to get a snapshot of where the supply chain stands as the fusion industry grows.

  • Progress toward fusion energy breakeven.... 2021

    The journal article, “Progress toward fusion energy breakeven and gain as measured against the Lawson criterion” by Samuel E. Wurzel and Scott C. Hsu describes the Lawson criterion, a key concept in the pursuit of fusion energy. The paper provides a compilation of achieved parameters for a broad range of historical and contemporary fusion experiments.
